As many of you know, 2013 was our first vintage of Tensley Estate Syrah. We planted the vineyard at our home back in 2011, with Oliver actually putting the first vine in the ground. 2013 turned out to be a great vintage and, despite being virtual babies, the Tensley vines produced a deep, complex Syrah that earned us 91-93 points from Parker’s Wine Advocate. In 2014 we took things to the next level, cutting back the water significantly from what we gave the ’13 vines, dropping even more clusters than before and producing an even bigger and more complex Syrah. The second planting of the Tensley Vineyard, which amounts to .80 acres, did very well in 2014 and was harvested for the first time this year, 2015. Yields were very low but the vines look strong and healthy and the fruit gave us rich, dark juice that is sure to make a wine we can be proud of.
