We just made a new pencil mark on Oliver’s bedroom wall, and it’s official. He has reached 5’5” tall, making him the tallest boy in his 7th grade class and taller than both of his grandmothers. He has not yet caught Mom and Dad, although it’s looking like it won’t be long Oliver’s favorite sport and favorite pastime is still soccer – playing soccer, watching soccer, going to soccer games. Happily working in the vineyard and winery also rank pretty high on the list. This summer we went to the Copa América in Chile where he got to see some of the greatest players in the world take the field. The AYSO soccer season has just begun and Joey is once again the team coach with our assistant winemaker, Zac, as assistant coach. As for Oliver’s life plans, they remain the same: become a professional soccer player then retire to a life of winemaking. Sounds like a great plan to us!
