Description
2010 Détente
Détente is a unique, Rhône-style blend that brings France and California together in one elegant, fruit-driven and very balanced wine. 50% of this blend comes from the 80-year-old Grenache vines of Domaine de Montvac, located in the town of Vacqueyras in the Southern Rhône region of France. There winemaker and owner Cécile Dusserre harvests and vinifies the Grenache before shipping us the finished wine. The Grenache is then blended with 50% Tensley Colson Canyon Syrah to create the Détente. 2010 was a cool harvest for us and for Cécile which meant the grapes spent a longer time on the vine, increasing each berry’s complexity and lending them a fresh acidity. In this wine, the bright berry notes, minerality and earthiness of Cecile’s Grenache marry beautifully with the dark plum, blackberry, pepper and chocoate notes of the Colson. This wine shows depth and focus. The finish is long and lingering with well-integrated, fine tanins. The 2010 Détente has had some time to age in the bottle and is drinking beautifully now but will also continue to evolve over the next 7 or 8 years.
