Description
2011 Camp 4 Blanc (65% Grenache Blanc; 35% Roussanne)
We picked a little earlier than usual in 2011 to avoid some rains that were headed our way. The earlier harvest gave us fruit that had a slightly higher acidity and lower ph level than in vintages past. Sugars were also lower leading to lower alcohol levels – only 13% this vintage. As with past vintages, the Grenache Blanc and Roussanne were picked at the same time and pressed together to neutral French oak barrels where they aged for 4 months. The resulting wine is crisp and fresh with a fleshy, rich texture and round mouthfeel. The Grenache Blanc brings bright minerality and crisp, dry notes of green apple, pear, and citrus to the blend while the Roussanne balances out the equation with lush notes of apricot, peach, honeysuckle and beeswax. Drink this wine now or age it over the next 3 to 6 years.
