2011 Lea Tierra Alta Syrah Rosé
All of the rosé vintages so far have been very consistent and we’re happy to say that 2011 is no exception. It is deep pink, fruity and floral with bright, crisp acidity and a long, silky finish. Notes of strawberries are complimented by hints of citrus and guava. As always, this rosé is dry, not sweet. In making the 2011, Jennifer and her 9-year-old son, Oliver, followed the tried and true method of stomping the grapes by foot (wearing food grade boots, of course.) After that, half the fruit remained on the skins for three hours. The other half stayed on the skins overnight before going into barrel. This rosé is a great match for spicy Mexican or Asian dishes as well as the Cajun dishes of Jennifer’s native New Orleans. It’s also great for summer barbecues. This wine is drinking beautifully now but can be aged over the next two years.
