2011 Tierra Alta Vineyard Syrah

Our parcel within the volcanic-ash-based Tierra Alta Vineyard is on a very steep slope planted entirely to the 99 Syrah clone. We’re fans of this clone’s dynamic fruitiness, finesse and minerality; those characteristics certainly shine through in this wine. This purple/ruby red Syrah offers a big bouquet of flowers, black fruits, blueberries and blackberries balanced by a bright, fresh acidity courtesy of the long, cool 2011 growing season. Soft tannins give it a velvety mouthfeel and make it easy to drink even at this young age, though it will easily age up to 8 or 9 years.
