2013 Tensley Vineyard Syrah (Vinous: 91-93 pts)

This is the very first vintage to be harvested from our Tensley estate vineyard. This two-acre parcel is planted directly behind our house and carefully tended to by our grower and by us. Our son, Oliver, actually planted the very first vine in 2011 and even harvested the first cluster three years later. The vineyard has great sun exposure, sandy soil and a gentle slope that provides great drainage for the vines. This year’s Tensley Vineyard Syrah is dark and intense with highlights of red plums and cherries nicely balanced by a subtle earthiness and firm, grainy tannins. We are very proud of the quality of this vintage and can’t wait to see how the vines and the wine develop in the future. Drink this wine now or age it 7 to 10 years.
