2014 B.M.T. Syrah Blend – (93-95 Vinous; 93-95 The Wine Advocate) Magnum
(Waitlisted)
This year our niece, Bailey Michelle Tensley, for whom this wine is named, turned 21 years old. We started making the BMT back when she was only nine. It is truly hard for us to believe that Bailey is actually old enough to drink her own wine now! Our mission in making the BMT, as with the OGT, was to make a wine that was reflective of Bailey herself: beautiful, elegant, deep. We feel we hit the mark with this blend.
This year’s BMT is made up of 50% Rodney’s Vineyard Syrah, 25% Colson Canyon Syrah, and 25% Colson Canyon Grenache. Vinous’ Antonio Galloni describes the BMT as, “suave, supple and very nicely layered.” The Wine Advocate’s Jeb Dunnuck writes, “…this takes concentration and ripeness to the extreme yet holds everything together beautifully and is a joy to drink.” Look for great structure and minerality from the old-vine Rodney’s Syrah, signature Colson Canyon Syrah flavors of blackberry, cassis and chocolate, and bright raspberry and violet notes from the Colson Canyon Grenache. This wine is approachable now but will age well over the next ten years.
