2015 Syrah “Noir” (94-96 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate)

The product of four years of drought in a row, this may be our most rich, dark and extracted Noir yet. It’s also our smallest production of Noir since our very first vintage back in 2007. Only five barrels of ’15 Noir were made. This wine is made exclusively from estate fruit sourced from our rugged and extreme Colson Canyon Vineyard and the gentle slopes of the Tensley Estate Vineyard located at our home. Joey made the Noir by picking the very best barrels of 2015 Colson Canyon and 2015 Tensley Vineyard Syrah’s then aging them for 16 months in 80% new and 20% neutral French oak.

The result is a powerful wine that offers deep notes of blackberries, chocolate, and smoked meats complemented by hints of vanilla and violets. Past vintages of the Noir have scored 98, 99, 95, 96, 95, 96, 94 and 94 points respectively. This wine is approachable now but will also age well over the next ten years.
