2016 Tensley Vineyard Syrah (94-96 Jeb Dunnuck: 91-94 Vinous)

This is the third vintage to be harvested from our Tensley estate vineyard. This two-acre parcel is planted directly behind our house and carefully tended to by our grower and by us. Our son, Oliver, actually planted the very first vine in 2011 and even harvested the first cluster three years later. The vineyard has great sun exposure, sandy soil and a gentle slope that provides great drainage for the vines. 2016 was our first year out of drought. The ‘16 wines shows intensity but also a lifted elegance and brightness. Look for fresh notes of cherries and red plums and a finish that shows fine and dusty tannins. Drink this wine now or age it over the next 12 years.
