2017 Thompson Vineyard Syrah

The Thompson Vineyard is among the most respected vineyards in Santa Barbara County. Established in 1990, Thompson’s windy conditions, cool nights, and great drainage make for low yields and intense fruit. This wine consistently shows bright notes of berries, red plums and minerals. It’s an earthy, full-bodied Syrah. The finish is long and offers hints of tobacco and spice. The weather was cooler this vintage, giving the grapes a little more hang time to develop even greater complexity. As with past Thompson vintages, this one ‘s tannic structure makes it perfect for aging. Drink now or age up to 12 years.
