Description
2023 Clairette Blanche Santa Barbara County
Clairette is quickly becoming one of my favorite wines in the world. I love how it carries weight on the middle pallet while staying vibrant and fresh at the same time. Fermented in neutral barrels to let the wine soften and round out the rough edges. While this wine has racy acidity, its finish is long and smooth, making it extremely complex. 80% Clairette Blanche from Martian Vineyard and equal parts Viognier and Roussanne from Zaca Mesa old vines give this wine its unique complexity. The Viognier really brings some beautiful, exotic notes to the glass while the Roussanne gives it a heady floral complexion. Nuances of banana pudding, apricot and fresh flowers.
