2011 Thompson Vineyard Syrah

The Thompson Vineyard is among the most respected vineyards in Santa Barbara County. Established in 1990, Thompson’s windy conditions, cool nights, and great drainage make for low yields and intense fruit. Bright notes of berries, red plums and cassis are complemented by minerals, pepper, and earth in this pure, full-bodied wine. The finish is long and offers hints of tobacco and spice. This vintage is especially complex and layered thanks to a longer than usual hang time in the 2011 growing season. As with past Thompson vintages, this one ‘s tannic structure makes it perfect for aging. Drink now (with decanting) or age up to 12 years.
