Description
2012 BMT Syrah
This blend is as ever-evolving and ever-changing as its namesake, our niece, Bailey Michelle Tensley. This year’s blend is a first. It’s made up of 50% Rodney’s Vineyard Syrah, 25% Colson Canyon Syrah, and 25% Colson Canyon Grenache. Like the OGT, this year’s blend received high marks from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, scoring solid 94 to 96 points. The Rodney’s Syrah comes from old vines, and delivers structured notes of earth, minerals, and rich fruit to the blend. The Colson Canyon Grenache lifts the wine with slightly higher acidity and bright notes of red plums and raspberries. (We like to think of this as Bailey’s bright wit and sparkling personality). Finally, the Colson Canyon Syrah rounds out the blend with its supple, velvety texture, hints of red meats and chocolate, and touch of pepper and spice. As with all of the 2012’s, this wine is drinking well young, but it will easily age up to ten years.
