2013 OGT Syrah (94 points, The Wine Advocate)

The 2013 vintage was a hot one with very little rain .The fruit it produced was deep and concentrated, resulting in one of the most complex and concentrated OGT Syrah blends we have produced to date. This blend is once again made up of 50% Colson Canyon Syrah, 25% Tierra Alta Syrah, and 25% Thompson Syrah. Our philosophy on that has always been – why mess with a good thing? The Colson Canyon grounds this wine with its deep notes of stone fruits, blackberries, pepper and leather. The Thompson lifts the blend with its near perfect balance of red fruits, bright acidity, and grainy tanins. The Tierra Alta rounds out the blend with its berry-driven roundness and hints of violets.   As always, this wine is approachable now, in its youth, but will age well over the next 10 to 12 years.
