2016 Syrah “Noir” (96-98 points, Jeb Dunnuck)

2016 marks the first year that we were entirely responsible for the farming of the Colson Canyon Vineyard, which we purchased in January of that year. The ’16 Noir is made up of 60% fruit from the rugged terroir of Colson and 40% fruit from the gentle slopes of the Tensley Vineyard in our own back yard. We farm each of these vineyards with precision and care.

2016 was a very dry vintage that gave us intense, extracted fruit. This wine is dark, dense and brimming with notes of chocolate, pepper and black stone fruit. Aged in 80% new and 20% neutral French oak barrels for 16 months, this wine also shows alluring hints of toast and vanilla. As always, this Noir boasts a solid tannic structure and promises to age well over the next 15 years.
