Description
2012 Santa Barbara County Syrah (91 points, Int’l. Wine Cellar)
This vintage we’ve done a little something different with the Santa Barbara County blend by bringing the cool climate Mormann Vineyard into the mix. Located in the Sta. Rita Hills appellation, Mormann’s mild days and cool nights lend its fruit notes of cedar, black and white pepper and spice. The rest of the fruit comes from the Thompson, Tierra Alta, Colson Canyon and Camp Four vineyards. Camp 4 brings in bright notes of raspberry and red plums while the Thompson steps in with structure, earth, and chewy tannins. The Tierra Alta is floral notes and finesse while the Colson rounds this wine out bringing depth, pepper, chocolate and jammy blackberry and purple plum flavors. This wine is drinking very well already but should age nicely over the next 3 to 5 years.
